Billy Lloyd Garrison of Nixa, Missouri, a kind and gentle soul, was taken home Sunday, April 27, 2014. He was born September 16, 1928 in Shelbina, Missouri, the son of Lloyd Thomas Garrison and Vivian E. White Garrison. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in Japan and also served during the Korean War. On June 1, 1949 Bill and Carolyn Ruth Todd were united in marriage. They lived in Shelbina, Missouri, Hannibal, Missouri, and Alta, Iowa, before moving to Nixa in 2001. Bill worked as an accountant. He loved his family and always enjoyed spending time with them. He liked golf, playing cards, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and sharing morning coffee with his buddies. Survivors include: His wife, Carolyn; four children and their spouses, Ron and Janet Garrison of LaCrescent, Minnesota, Janet and Bill Siglin of Nixa, Missouri, Larry and Carol Garrison of Alta, Iowa, and Randy and Sanya Garrison of Asbury, New Jersey; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Garrison of Louisville, Kentucky; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Donnie King of Shelbina, Missouri, and Millie and Ray Studer of Aurora, Colorado; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grand-daughter, Nicole Marie Garrison, a sister-in-law, Winnie Young and husband Greg, a brother-in-law, Dudley Todd; his parents-in-law Bill and Marguerite Todd; and his parents. A memorial service will be 11:00AM Thursday, May 1, in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Nixa, with Rev. Dennis Miller officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Memorial donations may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 460 West Aldersgate Drive, Nixa, MO 65714.
