Country Tom Bowser

Country Tom Bowser, age 78, of Nixa, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014. He was born January 2, 1936 in Center Hill, Pennsylvania, the son of Tom and Gladys Bowser. Country Tom started his real estate business in Ozark, and built the log cabin on the square. He was a major developer for Riverfork Ranch, and was known for a commercial he made with his horse, Trojan, with the caption "where the James and the Finley meet". He and his family had moved from Florida to be a part of the Ozark and Nixa communities. Tom had been a member of the Ozark Kiwanis Club and the Missouri Cowboy Poets Association. On June 20, 1997 he and Janice Sue Perry Bowser were united in marriage at the Riverdale Baptist Church. Tom and Janice have been members there for the past 18 years. They have lived for the past 17 years in their cedar log cabin beside the James River on Covered Bridge Road. Survivors include: His wife, Janice Sue Perry Bowser; six children, Tim Bowser and wife Marian of Soldotna, Alaska, Ted Bowser and wife Kathy of Nowata, Oklahoma, Tod Bowser and wife Kerri of Pierce City, Missouri, Tammy Bowser Jones and husband Doyle of Sparta, Missouri, Tom Bowser and wife Lisa of Jupiter, Florida, and Tyler Bowser of Chipley, Florida; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Bowser of Hadley, Pennsylvania; other relatives and many, many friends. His parents and a brother, Bob Bowser, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 17, in Riverdale Baptist Church, Nixa, with Pastor Jamie Bilyeu officiating. Burial will follow in Glenn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until service time on Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Memorial contributions may be made to Youth of Riverdale Baptist Church. .
