Joyann Rohde

July 9, 1930 — June 1, 2016

Joyann Louise Rohde of Ozark, Missouri died peacefully at home, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the age of 85. Born Joy Louise Robbins July 9, 1930 in Miller, Nebraska on the family farm. Joy was the youngest of six children born to Charlie and Laura Robbins. Joy was raised on the family farm near Miller and attended school in Miller, Nebraska. On October 12, 1947, Joy married Vernon Rohde of Ansley, Nebraska. Of this Union, Vernon and Joy had four children, Tom, Vick, Kim and Holly. Vernon and Joy raised their family on the farm north of Miller, NE., until 1981. Vernon and Joy then moved to Camdenton, MO., where they owned and operated 5-81 Motel and Campground. In 2001 Vernon and Joy moved to Ozark, MO., and resided together in their home until Vernon's passing on July 31, 2013. In May, 2015, Joy sold her home and moved across the street to live with her daughter Kim and grandchildren Pryce and Evan. She resided there until her death. Joy was always the Ultimate Domestic Engineer. She was always up at the crack of dawn readying herself for the day ahead. This usually entailed preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner for Vernon, the kids and usually 3-4 men that were hired help. In addition to the cooking and cleaning, Joy helped milk the cows, grew a huge garden, canned food from it, raised chickens, sold eggs, sewed clothes and still found time to enjoy family time. Joy was always the support leader at all the family functions from camping and water skiing, to motor sports. Often, come harvest time, Joy could be seen driving a grain truck, loading and unloading corn. As a couple Vernon and Joy had many friends. Big Band music and going out dancing with other couples was one of their favorite things to do. In fact, Vernon and Joy were introduced at a dance here in Miller. Joy loved being involved in civic activities. She was a Cub Scout Den leader, active in the American Auxiliary Club, a Blue Star Sister and elected first women president of the Camdenton Chamber of Commerce. Joy was proceeded in death by her parents, Charlie and Laura Robbins, four brothers, Dan Robbins, Carl Robbins, Irvin Robbins, Greeley Robbins and one sister, Hazel Ehersman, one son, Victor Rohde and her husband of 66 years, Vernon Rohde. Joy is survived by three children, Tom Rohde of Springfield, MO., Kim Rohde of Ozark, MO., and Holly Rohde of Kansas City, KS. Joy has four grandchildren, Heathor Uthe of Camdenton, MO., Shelby Thomas of New Bloomfield, MO., Pryce Rohde of Ozark, MO., and Evan Rohde of Ozark, MO.
