Linda Kay Cochran

Linda Kay Cochran, age 68, of Springfield passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 in Springfield, after a courageous two year battle with cancer. She was born February 4, 1947 in Aurora, to Frank and Alta (Ellingsworth) Cutbirth. During her life she lived in Springfield, Nixa, Aurora, and Sacramento, CA. Linda was united in marriage to James Edward Cochran II in the Stone County Court House in Galena, December 16, 1965 by Reverend Ora Short. Jim and Linda spent 50 blessed years together. Linda loved camping with her family, spending time with her grandchildren, family dinners, playing card games, and the television show "Survivor". She was a devoted wife and mother, making a heartwarming home for her family. Linda was a fun-loving person and had an infectious laugh. Her family says she fought hard during her illness and kept a smile on her face. Linda is survived by her husband; children, James Edward Cochran III and wife Sherry of Republic, Gary Kennith Cochran and Fianc�e Amy Roberson of Springfield; grandchildren Patrick Alan Cochran and wife Ashley of Republic, Brooke Woody and husband Trent of Nixa, Joshua Cochran of Republic, Tristan Stevens of Battlefield, Kaynin Cochran of Nixa, Brandon Cochran of Diamond, and Makenna Cochran of Battlefield, Amber DeRyke, Jordan Proctor, and Hayden Blevins; great-grandchildren Luella Grace Cochran, and Charlie Flatt; a brother Jack Cutbirth, wife Toni, of Reeds; and a sister-in-law Melody Taylor, of Arkansas. Linda is preceded in death by her parents; siblings Carolyn Sue Parker and Ruby Louis Blevins; brothers-in-law Mike Taylor Sr. and Arvil Blevins; granddaughter Kenzie Cochran; and nephews James Taylor, and Randy Blevins. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Jones-Chastain Cemetery, Highlandville. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation of the Ozarks, 330 N. Jefferson Ave # B, Springfield, MO 65806. The family would like to thank Dr. Tumalla and the seventh floor Mercy Hospice Care team for their compassionate care for Linda. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
