Randy Dean Stokes

June 5, 1964 — February 3, 2017

Randy Dean Stokes entered this world on June 5, 1964 and departed on his next adventure on February 3, 2017. Randy was the son of Darrell Stokes and Nancy "Anita" (Vinyard) Stokes. Randy graduated from Parkview High School with the class of 1982. He worked for his family's small business at Stokes Upholstery for most of his life, was a Master Upholsterer, and at one time an active member of the Shriner's as a mason. He enjoyed spending time with his family making memories, racing dirt bikes, hanging out on Tablerock Lake, listening to every kind of music except Queen, racing radio controlled cars, watching NASCAR, attending football games and the occasional concert. Randy was typically having fun and making the best of any situation. He had a heart of gold and never knew a stranger. No matter where you went, someone wanted to talk to him. He was charismatic and charming. His wit, opinions and carefree attitude will be missed for more than a lifetime. Randy is survived by his rescue dog, Lady, who has been quite the companion to him (even though we're still not sure who rescued who), his favorite aunt, Wanda Sharp and her husband Tom, his sister, Jan Stokes Hathcock, mother Nancy "Anita" Vinyard, and a host of cousins. Most importantly, his greatest accomplishment were his two children, April Roberts and Zachary Stokes. We are thankful for the time we were given with you, the good times always outweighed the bad, and we are blessed so much to have had a dad who was so openly proud of everything we have done and loved us so much. While the loss is hard, we knew it was time and it's okay to fly like a free bird. Randy is preceded in death by his best friend and father, Darrell Stokes, his grandparents Ova and Georgianna Stokes, Kenneth and Bernice Vinyard, and a very good friend, Chris Henley. In the honor of our father's SPIRIT, the family will be hosting a celebration of Randy's life in the following few weeks, dates to be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you go out and make memories, take pictures, turn the radio up, belly laugh and enjoy the time you have with your loved ones. Stuff is replaceable, but memories last a lifetime. "What I'm trying to get across to you; is please take of yourself and those that you love; because that is what we are here for, that's all we have, and that is all we can take with us. Are you with me?" ~Stevie Ray Vaughn~
