Royce (Roy) Melvin Ingram

March 22, 1929 — December 16, 2014

Royce (Roy) Melvin Ingram passed away at his home in Crane, Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 4:10 AM. He was 85 years old and the victim of pancreatic cancer. Roy was the second of three sons born to Irene (Denton) and Lansing Ingram while living in Chesterville, TX. He married Sandra Schoell September 8, 1957. At the time of death, he had been retired for 23 years after working for SRC in Springfield. Much of his life he worked as a forklift and automobile mechanic. After his retirement he repaired small engines and sharpened saws. He served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years (1947-1950). Most importantly, he was a man of great faith, obeying the Lord from the age of 32. He most recently attended church at the Nixa Church of Christ. Roy enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening. He could fix just about anything mechanical and was happy that he could mow his own yard at the age of 85. He was proud to have served in the Navy, but he always told others that he had not made any sacrifice. He enjoyed the camaraderie. The only time he ever had to carry a gun was in the streets of New York City, as he and a fellow serviceman retrieved the mail and delivered it to their flagship in the harbor. Roy is survived by his wife, Sandra, of 57 years and had two children; Debbie, and husband Pete Hanafin, of Rogers, AR, and Paul Ingram, and wife Peggy, of Cedar Park, TX; grandchildren include; Abby and Brannon Baugus of Bentonville, AR, Matt Hanafin, of Bentonville, AR, Stephanie and Mohammed Khaldi, of Fayetteville, AR, Aaron Ingram of Cedar Park, TX, and Sarah Ingram, also of Cedar Park, TX; two great-grandchildren, Ahmed Khaldi and Aayah Khaldi, of Fayetteville, AR; brothers; Roland Ingram, of Sweeny, TX and Leon Ingram of Buckholts, TX. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Lansing Ingram. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, December 22, 2014, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Visitation will be one hour before the service at 2:00 PM, in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Jamesville Cemetery on Highway M, at Jamesville, in Stone County. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa
