Stephen Neal Faseler

March 12, 1958 — December 4, 2014

Stephen Neal Faseler, age 56 of Nixa, died Thursday, December 4, 2014. He was born March 12, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Richard and Frances (Neal) Faseler. On July 31, 1982 he married Susan Russell. Steve was a builder of communities. He moved to Missouri from Texas in 1978. He set his roots in the Nixa community, building homes and relationships with the people around him. Steve also built several banks for Great Southern throughout Missouri with his friend, Steve Huff. He built and owned the Southern Oaks Inn hotel with his cousin Bobby Neal in Branson, featured on "Hotel Impossible." Steve was on a local building team for "Extreme Home Makeover." He was a former Nixa Alderman and was on the Nixa Fire Department Board of Directors and the Christian County 9-1-1 Board of Directors. Steve was currently a Nixa Planning & Zoning Commissioner. He had been active in the Christian County Democratic party. Steve was a Nixa High School Theatre and Choir booster. He was a former deacon at First Baptist Church of Nixa, where he was ordained and was currently serving as a deacon at South Gate Baptist Church, Springfield. Steve served on the Tri County Southern Baptist Association and built churches and hospitals in Mexico. But most importantly he built his family. Steve was a proud father and grandfather and a lover of books and providing for his family. He worked and built banks until his final day. Survivors include: his wife, Susan Faseler; three children, Jimmy Faseler, Jefferson "J.J." Faseler and wife Rachel, and Kaitlyn Faseler; his granddaughter, Hosanna Faseler; his mother, Frances Fitzpatrick; his father and stepmother, Richard and Nelda Faseler; his sister, Robye McGuire; two stepbrothers, Danny and Steve Fitzpatrick; two stepsisters, Tanya Johnson and Laree Morris; and other extended family and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his stepdad, Dale Fitzpatrick and his brother, Jimmy Faseler. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2014 in South Gate Baptist Church, Springfield, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow in Delaware Cemetery, Nixa. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday in South Gate Baptist Church, Springfield. Memorial donations may be made to the Steve Faseler Memorial Fund, Great Southern Bank.
