Thomas Oscar Parish

Thomas Oscar Parish Jr, of Nixa, MO was born in Belton, MO to Edna and Reverend Tom Parish on November 28, 1929. He attended Phillips University in Oklahoma and met the love of his life, Beverly Jo Humphreys, in Memphis, TN after graduating with honors. Tom's father was Interim Minister at Central Christian Church (Beverly and her family's church home) at the time. Tom and Bev married on July 20, 1956 and were blessed with three children. Tom earned his Divinity Degree and served many Disciples of Christ Church Congregations throughout the Midwest. He retired in 1995. The couple moved to Nixa, MO in 1997 and have been active members of South Street Christian Church in Springfield, MO ever since. Reverend Tom Parish Jr. is survived by his wife, Beverly Parish (Nixa, MO), a son and daughter-in-law: Tommy and Tammy Parish (Nixa, MO) and granddaughter, Amelia Jo Parish (New York, NY), a daughter: Bette Jayne Parish (Overland Park, KS), and son and daughter-in-law; Andy and Rebekah Parish (Leawood, KS) and grandsons: Adam, Garrett and Ben Parish (Leawood, KS). A sister, Sandra Remmert and husband Richard (Champaign, IL) also remain, as well as a long list of cherished nieces and nephews. Tom loved his family, faith, friends, the many communities he served and his beloved dog, Boots. Though he is now in his heavenly home, Thomas Oscar Parish Jr. will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 4th at South Street Christian Church, 500 South Ave., Springfield, MO 65806. Burial will be Monday, June 5, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Memphis, TN. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
