Bessie Marie Hodges

Bessie Marie Hodges, age 84, of Springfield, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014. She was born July 8, 1930 in the Keltner community, the daughter of James and Elsie (Holt) Hall. Bessie raised five children, and was a loving grandmother. She was a long time employee of Zenith in Springfield before retirement. She enjoyed being a foster grandparent for OACAC. Bessie liked bingo and gaming, quilting, and her flower garden. Survivors include: five children, Jerry Hodges and wife Viona of Louisburg, Wesley Hodges of Springfield, Steven Hodges and wife Debbie of Springfield, Pauline Evanitcka and husband Jerry of Greenfield, Tennessee, and Melody Williams and husband Thomas of Stow, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and was looking forward to the arrival of her first great-great-granddaughter. Bessie was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Estep and Eldorene Shipman; a granddaughter Ashley Williams, a step-son Robbie Croft, and her parents. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 12, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow in Old Boston Cemetery, Oldfield. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday, September 11, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post #69, 149 Memorial Plaza, Springfield, MO 65806.
