Doyle F. Owens, age 77, of Sparta, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Ozark Riverview Manor, from complications of front lateral dementia. He was born February 18, 1938 in Ava, the son of Fred and Donnie (Breeding) Owens.
Doyle graduated from Gainesville High School and Missouri School of Mines (MS&T), with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant the U.S. Army. He began his professional career with the Army Corps of Engineers while still in college which continued until his retirement in 1997. He worked on Corp projects in Missouri, Kansas and South Dakota, ending his career as Chief of Operations in the Omaha, Nebraska District Office.
In 2000 Doyle and Kathryn built and moved into their dream house near Sparta. They enjoyed marking travel locations off their bucket list until Doyle was no longer able to travel. He took pleasure in raising and giving away blackberries and other garden products.
Doyle was a member of Ozark Presbyterian Church where he not only found spiritual support and growth, but a wonderful group of friends.
Doyle is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathryn; three sons, Jeff and wife Celia, Tim and wife Michelle, and Nick; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Trish and husband Kirk Hollert; a brother Jerry Owens and wife Sandra; a sister-in-law, Karen Owens, and devoted dogs Molly and Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Merle Owens.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Wednesday, May 6, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, with Dr. John Nipper officiating.
