Fred H. Kirchhoefer, 81, of Nixa, MO passed away on August 3rd, 2017. He was born January 11, 1936 in New Athens, IL, the son of the late Fred E. and Luella Kirchhoefer. Fred and his wife Marylyn had 55 wonderful years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, Marylyn, their two children, Todd Kirchhoefer of Kansas City, MO, and Debra Black of Furlong, PA, his grandchildren, Olivia and Meredith, and his son-in-law, Douglas Black. Fred is also survived by his brother James Kirchhoefer and wife Debbie of New Athens, IL and nephew Scott Kirchhoefer of Bellville, IL. Fred graduated from Marissa Township High School in Marissa, IL. He then went on to graduate from Washington University in St. Louis, MO where he was a member of the Tau Tau Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity. After college, Fred served our country honorably in the U.S. Navy. He received a commission in the US Navy in 1958 with the rank of Ensign. He served three years aboard the USS INVESTIGATOR (AGR-9) and was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant. Fred began and built his successful professional career in pharmaceutical sales working for Lederle in St. Louis, MO before settling in Springfield, MO with Marylyn and raising a family. Fred was an avid golfer and he and Marylyn were members of the Fremont Hills Country Club. He served as Mayor Pro Tem of Fremont Hills. He also loved to travel and was fond of St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren dearly and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Friday, August 11, at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, Ozark. Graveside services with military honors will be at 1:00 PM Friday, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. A reception will be held following the graveside service at Fremont Hills Country Club. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests a memorial donation may be made to the local Springfield, Missouri chapter of the American Heart Association or the Missouri chapter of the American Lung Association.
