Gloria Jean Armstrong

Gloria Jean Armstrong, age 90 of Nixa passed away Monday, June 27, 2016. She was born December 4, 1925 in Meredosia, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond and Cora (Suratt) McDannold. On March 15, 1952, Gloria was united in marriage to Edward Armstrong, Jr. Gloria enjoyed yardwork, nature - especially hummingbirds, bingo, going to the library and spending time with her great grandson. Survivors include: her children, Cynthia Rhodes, Nixa; her step daughter, Loy Conn and husband Bill, Huntsville, Alabama; grandchildren, Greg Rhodes, Springfield, Tiffani Rhodes, Springfield, Rick Conn and wife Aerin, Wichita, Kansas, Kristina Goodwin and husband Brian, Madison, Alabama; great grandchildren, Dakota Price, Springfield, Alex and Dylan Conn, Derby, Kansas, and Madelaine and Sam Goodwin, Madison, Alabama. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2016 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Illinois Retired Teachers Association.
