Irene F. Scharitz, 91, of Ozark, formerly of Shell Knob and Aurora, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014. Irene was born September 23, 1922, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Jessee and Vera (Jones) Scism. Irene was a devout Catholic and an outgoing and passionate person. She was an avid bridge player and hostess. Irene was a devoted homemaker and was always involved in her children's school years and her church. Her greatest pleasure was living on the "Quiet Side" of the lake. She was preceded in death by her husband and life companion Harry "Bud" Scharitz, an infant brother, granddaughter Laurie Hignite. Many relatives, friends and acquaintances have also taken the journey before her. Irene is survived by her cat Trav who provided her comfort and companionship, her daughter, Debbie Ansley, Springfield, Missouri, her son, Steve Scharitz and wife Janet, Nixa, Missouri, her three grandchildren, Bryan Ansley, Kansas City, Missouri, Kim King and husband Steve, Overland Park, Kansas, Heather Rice and husband David, Ashland, Missouri and seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Ozark Nursing and Care for their loving care and kindness, and Kaylene and Fletch of Hospice Compassus for providing comfort and compassion in her final days. A memorial service will be held at a later date on the "Quiet Side" of the lake. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Parkinson's Group of The Ozarks, PO Box 50595, Springfield, Missouri 65805, or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri.
