Joe Brazeale

December 9, 1933 — December 9, 2016

Joe Walter Brazeale of Ozark, Missouri passed away in Springfield, Missouri on December 9, 2016, his eighty-third birthday. Joe was born on December 9, 1933 in rural Christian County, Missouri, to Walter Page Brazeale and Iva Jane Brazeale (ne Skaggs). He grew up on the family farm and attended Ozark Schools, from which he graduated in 1951. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia for one year before returning home to work. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957 as a Radioman in the Pacific Theater. He went to work for Harding Glass in 1959 and retired from that company in 1996. After his retirement, he served as a director for the White River Electric Cooperative until 2015. In addition to his work in the glass and energy businesses, Joe was a lifelong farmer and cattleman. Joe was a 50 year member of Friend Lodge No. 352 A.F. & A.M., a member of Selmore Baptist Church, and a trustee of Selmore Cemetery. On May 1, 1960, Joe married Frances Fulton. They bought a farm near Ozark, where they raised their family. Joe enjoyed business and farming, and he was a tireless worker. He took pleasure in traveling, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Joe was a good friend and neighbor to many, always happy to lend a helping hand or to share the produce from his garden during the summer and the peanut brittle from his kitchen at Christmastime. Late in life, when he was no longer able to work and get around, Joe greatly appreciated it when his friends and neighbors returned the favor. Joe's parents, his brothers-in-law Ollie Liner, Bob Faerber, Jake Fulton, and Russell Fulton, and his sisters-in-law June Ellis, Linda Fulton, and Shirley Fulton predeceased him. He is survived by Fran, his wife of 56 years, and his immediate family: sons Lance Brazeale (Lesa) of Shawnee, Kansas, and Jack Brazeale (Jennifer) of Ozark; daughter Diana Brazeale of Ozark; and grandson Joseph Brazeale of Shawnee, Kansas. He is also survived by his brother Charles "Chuck" Brazeale (Ina Rae) of Paris, Missouri; sisters Gena Liner of Plainview, Texas, Rachel Robertson (Dale) of Ozark, and Ruth Faerber of Kirkwood, Missouri; brothers-in-law Wade Fulton, Weldon Fulton (Jeanne), and John Ellis; sisters-in-law Barbara Hale (Davy) and Mary Fulton; and his dear friend Jack Baker, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many, many friends. Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday December 12, 2016 at Adams Funeral Home in Ozark, Missouri, with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Selmore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa FL 33607.
