John William Wolford

October 19, 1933 — September 7, 2014

John W. Wolford, age 80, of Nixa, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014, after a long battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). John was born October 19, 1933, near Bevier, Missouri, to John and Stella (Bunton) Wolford. John proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy, during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he worked for Beechcraft, Boeing, and Cessna Aircraft, while living in Augusta, Kansas. While living in Augusta, he met Chloe Morrison. They married January 12, 1957. John and Chloe moved to Nixa, in 1969, where John became a self-employed painting contractor, and Chloe began her teaching career. John enjoyed wood working and made numerous decorative items, such as miniature chairs and cowboy boots, as well as tool boxes. John was a Christian, and a member of Riverdale Baptist Church, Nixa. John is survived by his wife of 57 years; two sons, Terry and Brenda Wolford, of Ozark, and Bryan and Lyn (Brummel) Wolford, of Nixa; five grandchildren, Justin Wolford, Springfield, Terianne and Tyler Brown, Rogers, AR, Ryan and Erin Evans, Jefferson City, Andrew and Danielle Wolford, Ozark, and Taylor Wolford, of Ozark; four great grandchildren, Dylan Wolford, Avah and Barron Brown, and Rylan Evans; two sisters, Sandi Johnson, Burlington IA, and Sharon Krug, Maquota, IA. John is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Francis. A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 12, 2014, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday September 13, 2014, at Hall Cemetery, in Douglas County. Memorial donations In Lieu of flowers may be made to Hall Cemetery, 1065 State HWY UU Chadwick, MO 65629. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa
