Joshua DeWitt

March 2, 1978 — July 30, 2018

Joshua Eli Dewitt was born March 2, 1978 in Houston MO. He passed from this world on Monday July 30th, 2018 at the age of 40. Josh spent the majority of his life in the Cabool, Houston MO area. Josh graduated from Cabool High School in 1997. Josh loved his family and friends first and foremost. He called his mother daily. Josh also spent as much time as possible with his family, Father Elvis, Stepmom Lesa, Uncle Edward and others in in Cabool and Houston. Josh was a friend to all who met him. He had an easy-going personality and was known to friends and acquaintances as "one of the nicest guys" they'd ever met. Josh enjoyed cutting up with friend and enjoyed telling jokes. Not always suitable for mixed company. He almost always had a smile on his face and was quick to laugh with others. One of Josh's favorite things to do was to go canoeing with friends. He enjoyed camping out by the river most every weekend. It was his idea of paradise. Josh moved to Springfield MO in May of 2017 to be closer to his mother sister and nieces. Josh especially liked spending time with his niece's Marleigh, and Journey and his sister Desiree. Josh also had some health issues and living in Springfield also allowed him to access better health care. Josh moved into Stillwell apartments and quickly made many new and wonderful friends. They spent many hours sharing meals and visiting at the gazebo. Josh overcame some major obstacles in is short life. I am so very proud of the man he became. Josh is survived by his Mother Lisa Middleton Whitney of Springfield MO; Sister Desiree Whitney; Niece's Marleigh Whitney, and Journey Washington of Springfield MO; Uncle Gary and Teresa Hancock and family of East Prairie, MO; Aunt's Jane and Danny Ratterree and Connie and Ronnie Coffin all of St. Louis; Father Elvis & Lesa Dewitt of Cabool, MO; Uncle Edward Dewitt; and a host of other family and friends. Josh was preceded in death by Maternal Grandparents Bob and Marjory Middleton; Paternal Grandmother Jewell Dewitt. Josh will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. I was recently told that God knows the exact date, time and moment he breathes life in to our bodies and he knows the exact date time and moment he calls us home. You're finally home son.
