Lauren (Buzz) Bowers

Lauren (Buzz) Bowers, age 88, of Nixa, Missouri passed away Monday, December 23, 2013. He was born April 23, 1925 in Colo, IA, the son of Henry A. and Etta (Dewey) Bowers. He was educated in the Colo public schools and graduated from Colo High School in 1942. He entered the U. S. Navy in 1942 and served as a gunner/bombardier in the Pacific Theatre. He was honorably discharged in February of 1946. On April 21, 1946 he was united in marriage to Rita I. Wengert, who preceded him in death in 1988, after a short battle with cancer. On November 18, 1992, he was united in marriage to Shirley L. Randall Maiden, at Shepherd Of The Hills Lutheran Church, in Kimberling City, Missouri. Buzz was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita; both parents; a sister, Guinevere Olson, of Coralville, Iowa; and a brother, Bernice (Bernie) Bowers, of Kimberling City, Missouri. Surviving is his wife Shirley; a daughter Jacqueline Hibbs, and husband Joel, of Marshalltown, Iowa; a son Bruce Bowers, and wife Molly, of Hurst Texas; 3 grandsons, Troy (Merideth) Hibbs, Andrew (Brooke) Bowers, and Steven (Libby) Bowers; 2 granddaughters, Amanda (Russ) Moore, and Cindy (Chris) Smoyer; 4 great granddaughters, Madelyne, Paige, and Sydney Hibbs, and McKenlee Moore; and 1 great great grandson Braeden Moore; Two stepchildren, Michael Maiden and Marla Peck; 4 step grandchildren, Jeffrey, Drew, Mark Maiden and Ethan Peck. A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date, at Rosehill Memorial Gardens, Marshalltown, Iowa.
