Louise Meier

February 5, 1930 — December 17, 2017

Zelma Louise Meier, age 87, of Granby passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 after a short illness. She was born February 5, 1930 at Chestnut Ridge, MO to Luther and Doris (Keltner) Bilyeu. Louise graduated from Spokane High School and that it was there she met the love of her life, James Meier. Their love for each other grew all through high school. The two were united in marriage on March 27, 1948 in Harrison, AR, celebrating 69 years of marriage. After several moves out of state, they settled in the Neosho, MO area, making this their permanent home. Louise was saved at an early age and lived her life in commitment to the Lord. Louise was a member of the Monett General Baptist Church, where her faith and trust in God were an integral part of her service to others. She lead the music for the church services for many years and helped organize the church dinners and celebrations. The Lord and her church family were a very important part of her life. Louise nurtured her children and taught them the importance of a close and personal relationship with God. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, always putting the needs of her family first. She shared her love of music, singing and cooking with her daughters whom she loved so very much. Louise found relaxation crocheting beautiful doilies and afghans for friends and family. She is survived by her loving husband James of the home, daughters Norma Curry of Springfield, MO and Leta Wilson of Granby MO; a grandson Brian Lindsey (wife Amanda) of Ozark, and two great grandchildren, Jack and Kate Lindsey. Louise was preceded in death by her parents Luther and Doris Bilyeu, a brother Roy Bilyeu, and granddaughter Jennifer Lindsey. Her strength and courage in difficult times, especially the last few months, gave her the strength to fight and finish her race with grace and dignity. A visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
