Lowell Heerman

June 12, 1953 — August 22, 2017

Lowell W. Heerman, age 64, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 12, 1953 in Springfield to Henry and Marjorie (Lehman) Heerman. Lowell was united in marriage to Diana Topliff June 14, 1975. He loved people and wanted to serve his community and to make a difference. He was a Deputy Sheriff with the Greene County Sheriff's Office, working in the Patrol Division. Lowell served under Sheriffs Mickey Owen and John T. Pierpont and was with the department for 11 years. He later became of Police officer with Republic Police Department serving 16 years. After leaving law enforcement, Lowell worked for ACC Transport transporting medical patients. Lowell had a servant's heart and enjoyed taking care of his patients. Lowell loved his family dearly and was his first priority. He was happiest when he was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Lowell was a hero in his community. He saved lives and worked to keep his community safe. Lowell is survived by his wife Diana; his children Bradley Heerman, his wife Lula of Republic, Andrew Heerman, his wife Dakota of Republic, and Christy Lammert, her husband Billy of Marionville; and four grandchildren; one brother Scott Heerman, his wife Carol of Springfield; many nieces and nephews; and many brothers and sisters in law enforcement Lowell is preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter Aubrey. Lowell's family will hold a memorial service at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Marionville. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Mercy Hospice of Springfield or the American Cancer Society.
