Victor Doyne Whitaker

Victor Doyne Whitaker, age 79 of Clever passed away April 4, 2020 with family by his side. He was born December 28, 1940 in Blairstown, Missouri, the son of Homer Doyne and Bernadine LaRue (Miller) Whitaker. As a boy, Victor loved horses and spending time on his grandfather's farm. Victor became a banker and stock broker, serving as president of several banks. He was a coach at Moberly Boxing Club, served as deputy sheriff in Salina, Kansas and was a volunteer underwater rescuer. Victor enjoyed the outdoors, water sports, being on the lake and steak dinners. Victor attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Nixa. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Everyone loved to be around him. Victor was always happy and was known for joking around with his family and friends, Survivors include: his children, Tracy Whitaker and wife Karina of Nixa, Shawna Johnson and husband Jeremy of Blue Springs and Danny Whitaker of Blairstown; grandchildren, Brianna and Tristan Whitaker of Nixa, Nicholas and Justin Johnson of Blue Springs and Rebecca Whitaker of Warrensburg and Vincent Whitaker of Clifton Hill; three great grandchildren, a sister, Beverly Hocker and husband Lyle of Lee's Summit; friend, Minkyung Pering of Springfield; and his dog, Angie. Victor was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Warren Whitaker; and his dog Andy. A viewing for friends and family to pay their respects will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A private family graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Carpenter Cemetery in Chilhowee, Missouri, officiated by Pastor Dennis Miller, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Friends are welcome to pay their respects by entering the chapel at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, one or two at a time Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. in order to comply with health safety measures set forth by the governor, the county and the city. To help protect our community and those we serve, we will be following safety practices as we navigate this ever changing situation with COVID-19. As of March 23, our governor implemented a 10 person limit at gatherings which includes funerals. We will be working with families to create opportunities to honor their loved ones while keeping them and the public as safe as possible. Please check the obituaries on our website for specific information about each service. Because of the fluidity of this situation, our practices may need to continue to change. We will do our best to update the public to those changes. Working together with our community we hope will help bring a swifter end to this challenging and concerning situation.
